Storm Volleyball Club is a prominent, competitive program dedicated to advancing the personal and athletic development of youth through the passion of excellence in volleyball, promoting leadership in all club members, and to teach the values of teamwork, responsibility, self discipline and motivation.
As evidenced by multiple news reports and various announcements by other sport organizations, the COVID-19 (corona virus) spread is causing an ever-increasing public health concern. USA Volleyball and the SCVA have postponed and cancelled qualifying and regional tournaments in an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
While STORM have been monitoring the situation closely and following the guidance and recommendations issued by USAV, the SCVA, and the CDC, we are ever mindful of the developmental needs and concerns of our STORM family and balancing it with the health issues that we are facing. As always, the safety and well-being of your child has been and will continue to be, our top priority.
In addition, we also bear a social responsibility to help limit the community spread of COVID-19.
Per the USA Volleyball recommendation that all USAV sanctioned events be CANCELLED through March 22nd. The SCVA has advised club directors and recommended all volleyball clubs to CANCEL all practices, scrimmages, private lessons, team bonding and any other activities through March 22nd. STORM has decided to follow the directions of both organization and have cancelled all practices through 3/22/2020. We will update accordingly as this is a very fluid situation. This was not a decision that we made lightly, but rather, out of an overabundance of caution and concern for you, our STORM family, and your loved ones during these extraordinary times.
While these will be trying times, it’s important to protect and maintain our way of life in the best way possible. For us, that’s volleyball. And that will continue one way or another. We know removing volleyball activity from our athletes will be an additional challenge in already difficult times. Our thoughts are with all of you and please remain safe.
Please use this time to let your injuries heal. Take this time to get to know your parent(s) more and to share your love for each other. We are in this journey together, and we support one another and protect each other. However, we also have to realize that we are not invincible. Teaching vulnerability will help our children appreciate life and it’s great gifts. This pandemic will help reveal our true grit, compassion, and teamwork. We are all working together to contain this virus.
We will continue to follow USAV, SCVA and CDC recommendations as we make decisions moving forward. Continue to check our website, www.stormvolleyballclub.com for updated communications. Please continue to follow health safety precautions and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
All the best,
Marleena and STORM Staff
Message From SCVA
The SCVA is continually following COVID-19 and its impact on our communities. The SCVA is aware of the most recent decisions made by the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, Pac 12, and the ACC to cancel their conference tournaments, along with the cancellations of the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, the Mid East Qualifier, and Crossroads. The SCVA is also aware of that Governor Newsom has recommended the cancellation of gatherings of 250 people or more across the entire state. In addition, the City of Anaheim is currently releasing updates as to the next steps with the new recommendation by Gov. Newsom. With these latest developments, the SCVA will be honoring the no gathering recommendation, and as a result will be postponing all events through March 22nd. Thus the SCVA will attempt to reschedule the following events:

Hara, a pin hitter from Imperial Beach, Calif., currently plays for Storm VBC. She twice received First Team All-League honors as well as being named to the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team. Most recently completed her senior season at Mar Vista High School with 321 kills.
"Evie is a dynamic athlete who has the ability to attack from both pins for us. Her versatility, athleticism and tremendous upside that we feel she has in her game will make her an exciting addition to our team. She still has another season of club play with Storm in the competitive Southern California region where I'm confident she'll continue to develop before she arrives on campus."
